Teacher

H. Adam has taught workshops, residencies, and masterclasses for students in K-12, undergraduate, and graduate programs, as well as for amateur and professional adult artists. He provides private coaching for auditions and is also available to visit schools or programs.

His teaching practice is based on his six core guidelines and the belief that learning occurs through exploration, collaboration, and when failure meets opportunity.

Former Resident Teaching Artist, Guthrie Theater

Taught 50+ classes and workshops. Notable highlights include adult acting classes focused on text analysis and scene study, youth classes through the Hennepin County Libraries, leading Storytime at the Mill City Farmers Market, and various corporate development workshops by request.

Former Resident Teaching Artist, Children’s Theatre Company

In addition to various classes for students grades 7-12, as well as audition boot camps for students grades 4-6, H. Adam was the inaugural teacher of the reimagined Theatre Arts Training Pre-Professional Institute for high school students.

Former Faculty Member, St. Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists

Taught Theatre and Social Justice, a core curriculum class that examined how artists can use performance to organize, inspire, educate, and lead communities toward social equity. The class explored identity, wellness, consent, politics, and contemporary social justice movements.

Among standard workshops and masterclasses on embodied movement, language for the actor, and career coaching, H. Adam also offers his signature class: “Joyful Rage: Artistry & Activism” - Centering joy and vulnerability in an anti-racist ensemble approach to theater-making.
